One politician that Nigerians cat ignore even while in prison, is no other than Chief James Ibori. Biznesswatch.com reliably gathered that no major decision as to the daily running of the state is done without the approval of Ibori. As 2015 draw closer by the day, the Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan is at crossroad over who he will hand over the leadership of the state to after the expiration of his own tenure in 2015.
At the moment there seems to be an uneasy calm in the state as to who succeeds Uduaghan comes 2015. Inside sources squealed to biznesswatch. com that politicians in the state, especially in the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are already making moves and fighting underground wars to be the next governor of the state.
Though, many top guns are jostling for the number one seat from across the state, but there are indications that Uduaghan’s successor will be from the Delta North Senatorial District of the State. The Delta North is yet to produce a governor since the creation of the State.
Meanwhile, two top contenders for the governorship seat have already emerged. They are Senator Emmanuel Okowa, the incumbent senator representing Delta North in the Senate, and Hon. Victor Ochei, the current Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly.
A source told biznesswatch.com that both contenders, are infact, loyalist of the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori who is serving a four and a half year prison sentence in United Kingdom after pleading guilty to money laundering charges levelled against him by the U.K government.

“I want you to know that Ibori is still running the affairs of the state from the U.K Prison. I can say confidently that Uduaghan visits Ibori in prison every 2 months where very sensitive decisions are made.
‘’Even, most of the commissioners go to the London prison on regular basis to render accounts of their Ministries. And I am also aware that Uduaghan has consulted with Ibori over who will be the next governor of Delta State in 2015”, the source claimed.
biznesswatch.com gathered that all the contenders for the 2015 governorship position have also been visiting Ibori in the prison to pledge their loyalty. But among all those jostling for Uduaghan job, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa seems to have the upper.
