Kwara State Governor, Dr.Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday assured that the state government will partner with Offa Local Government Council in the rebuilding of the market.
Governor Ahmed while inspecting the ruins of the market added that the rebuilding would be through a Public Private Sector Partnership in order to ensure its completion in good time.
The Governor promised that his administration would work out an empowerment scheme for the victims so that they could start their businesses again.
Dr. Ahmed who said it was unfortunate that the incident occurred at a time when the national economy was in grave difficulties, urged Kwarans to be conscious of the need to switch off electrical appliances when they are not in use.
The popular Owode Market in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State was gutted by fire weekend, destroying wares worth millions of Naira.
The fire which occurred in the early hours of Saturday was allegedly caused by electrical fault burnt more than 150 shops and destroyed property estimated to about N500m.
